Sustainable Walnut Creek

Art Challenge

Turn your waste into wonder and make a splash for Earth Month! 🌱🎨

Introducing the Earth Month Art Challenge, inspired by the documentary “The Story of Plastic.” We invite creatives of ALL AGES to transform recycled materials into meaningful works of art. Let your creativity tell a powerful story about sustainability and the future of our planet.

This is a community initiative brought to you by the Center for Community Arts, Sustainable Walnut Creek, and the Community Arts Foundation.

How to Participate:

  1. Create: Use recycled materials (bottles, containers, caps, bags—get creative!) to build your masterpiece.

  2. Submit: Email a clear photo of your art and a list of the materials used to nadinehammer@commartsfoundation.org.

  3. Timeline: We are accepting rolling submissions throughout May 2026!

Recognition & Awards:

Every story counts! All submissions will be showcased on the Sustainable Walnut Creek and Community Arts Foundation websites.

Winners will receive special recognition and prizes: 🏆 A gold trophy for the top art pieces. 🌱 An EcoGardens recognition award. 💳 Gift cards to local eco-conscious stores to keep supporting sustainable choices. 📰 A feature story in the City of Walnut Creek Eco Newsletter.

Show us what possibility looks like. Join the challenge and create art for a better future! 🌎
