Saturday, October 26th, 2 to 4pm
The Walnut Creek Climate March is back! After a five-year hiatus, we are thrilled to invite you to join us in a powerful demonstration of community, solidarity, and commitment to addressing climate change. This event is a unique opportunity to come together, raise awareness, and take meaningful steps towards a sustainable future.
Where and When
Join us on Saturday, October 26th. We will meet at 2 p.m. at the gazebo in Civic Park, at the corner of Civic Drive and Broadway, and have an exciting rally followed by a march around WC downtown.
Marchers will pause at the intersection of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and N. Main St., occupying all four corners for 5-10 minutes. During this time, we will celebrate with music, chants, and plenty of energy, while displaying banners and signs. Videos and photos will be taken to capture the moment. This vibrant demonstration will help raise awareness and visibility for Climate Action.

Background on Walnut Creek’s Climate Marches
The first Climate March took place as a part of Walnut Creek’s Twilight Parade in 2019. Participants marched with banners, electric and hybrid cars from the Electric Caravan, and bikers walking with their bikes.
After the 2019 Twilight Parade, the Walnut Festival Association decided to discontinue the parade. The organizations involved in the Climate March were:
- Sustainable Walnut Creek (SWC)
- Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church – Climate Justice Team (MDUUC-CJT)
- Sustainable Contra Costa (SCOCO)
- Elders Climate Action Network
- The Interfaith Council of Contra Costa
These organizations believe that five years without a Climate March is too long, and 2024 is the right time to resume this important event.
Purpose
The Climate March aims to:
- Continue educating and building awareness about climate change
- Strengthen community bonds among participants and local organizations
- Foster a sense of solidarity and collective purpose around climate change
